Why Is Putlocker.is Still Down?

Popular online movie source Putlocker.is went down October 11th, and still has not come back online, which has caused many users to wonder what exactly is going on with the site.

EverydayElectronics has been closely monitoring the situation and at the current time there hasn’t been many details added.

As we reported last week, upon visiting the Putlocker website you’re hit with a Cloudflare error message, which suggests a server error.

One development that’s interesting since the site went offline is that the Whois information for Putlocker.is was transferred to a new owner. Other good news is that the domain name seems to be operating fine, and it hasn’t been seized by the registrar.

Rumours are suggesting Putlocker went down right after the MPAA reported a list of pirate sites to the United States Trade Representative. In the report Putlocker was described as one of the largest piracy threats on the internet.

“Putlocker.is is the most visited infringing English language video streaming link site in the world,” the MPAA wrote in their report.

Whether this directly caused the sites current downtime has yet to be verified. The Putlocker.is operators still remain silent on the situation so exactly what they’re up to is unknown.

In the mean time watch out for clones that are popping up claiming to be the real Putlocker. They feature a lack-luster library, malicious ads, and try and do things like obtain your credit card information, aswell as much more.
