Popular torrent website BitSnoop chose to shut down this week, marking the closure of another long-running name in the pirating community.

BitSnoop confirmed the news with a message posted on their homepage. Upon visiting BitSnoop.com user’s are now presented with the following message pictured below.

“It’s been a nice ride, but all things eventually come to an end,” the message reads. It then goes on to recommend and forward you to a new up and coming torrent index Zooqle.

According to the message the team at BitSnoop has also handed their database over to Zooqle, which is suppose to be indexed on their site in the future.

“For now check out Zooqle – these guys seem to know their stuff. They took our data and said they will index it eventually,” Bitsnoop’s admin writes.

Like many other streaming and torrent sites, BitSnoop is blocked by ISPs in several countries and has angered many rightsholders, who in turn pressure hosting and domain providers to shut them down.

While the team at BitSnoop has declined to comment on why they have chosen to shut down, this may have had something to do with it.
