Is ExtraTorrent.cd The Real ExtraTorrent?

Now that ExtraTorrent has been shut down for over a week, as expected many copy cat site’s have popped up to try and take advantage of the situation.

A few days after ET went offline, a clone site by the name of Extratorrent.cd surfaced and starting gaining alot of traction. Many large publications such as Forbes and others have announced that ExtraTorrent is back, but that is simply not the case.

EverydayElectronics can confirm that Extratorrent.cd is actually a Pirate Bay mirror disguised as ExtraTorrent. The site looks exactly like the official ET, except all torrents actually come from The Pirate Bay.

After doing thorough due diligence on the case as well, TorrentFreak says that the site’s operators actually did the same thing last year when KickassTorrents went offline.

”The site is an imposter operated by the same people who also launched Kickass.cd when KAT went offline last summer. In fact, the content on both sites doesn’t come from the defunct sites they try to replace, but from The Pirate Bay,” noted TorrentFreak.

Although Extratorrent.cd does not serve any malicious content, it’s important to note that aside from its appearance, the site has absolutely nothing to do with the official Extratorrent websites or their team.

EverydayElectronics will keep you updated on the situation if any new details unfold. We always recommend using a high tier VPN service such as IPVanish to ensure you are protected while downloading torrents.

Update: The updated link for this site has now become https://extratorrent.si.
