Netflix users in Canada can expect to start forking out more cash to continue accessing their favorite titles on the service.
The popular online streaming powerhouse announced earlier this week that the price change will take effect immediately for new members in Canada. Current subscribers can expect their price increases coming in the near future, and will be notified via email.
Netflix Canada prices after increase:
- Basic Netflix Subscription – Now $8.99 CA
- Standard Netflix Subscription – Now $10.99 CA
- Premium Netflix Subscription – Now $13.99 CA
Netflix confirmed the news with the following statements:
“From time to time, Netflix plans and pricing are adjusted as we add more exclusive TV shows and movies, introduce new product features and improve the overall Netflix experience to help members find something great to watch even faster.”
Also adding, “Price increases are unique to each market and Canada’s increase does not influence or indicate a change in any other region.”
While price increases are usually not very popular with subscribers, it is important to note that the last time Netflix upped their prices in Canada, was almost two years ago in October of 2015.
