The Pirate Bay’s .SE Domain No Longer Accessible!

Have you been trying to visit the Pirate Bay through their popular .SE domain? Starting yesterday the domain became inaccessible and stopped redirecting users to the most current Pirate Bay domain, which has left many daily visitors somewhat confused.

EverydayElectronics can confirm that thepiratebay.se has expired and was deactivated. After years of battling in court, The Swedish Court of Appeal ordered late last year that thepiratebay.se and piratebay.se be confiscated by their domain registry.

Although a Supreme Court appeal on the situation is still pending, it has been reported that earlier this year courts in Sweden placed a lock on the domains which prevented them from changing owners or being transferred. Without the ability to update, renew or transfer the domain, it expired and is now inaccessible.

Over the years the Pirate Bay crew has burned through over a dozen domains but their .SE domain was always the safest and most reliable home. When things got rocky towards the end of their initial trial, TPB updated its official domain back to their original thepiratebay.org address.

Our team is currently monitoring the situation and will release an update as new details become available. Looking for more from EverydayElectronics? Visit our tutorials section, Netflix in the news page, or find our latest articles here.
